Attendance

Did you know that there is a clear link between

school attendance and attainment?

A missed school day is a lost opportunity for learning.

For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education it is vital that they attend school regularly. All children should be at school, on time, every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.

At Redlands, in addition to delivering fun and interesting lessons, we use a range of rewards and incentives to help to make sure our attendance remains high:

  • Weekly: Each week the classes with the highest attendance in the key stage are awarded the attendance bears.
  • Termly: All of our pupils achieving 100% attendance can collect bronze, silver and gold awards for each term.
  • Anually: At the end of the year, all of our 100% attenders are invited to take part in a special reward trip.

Please note that holidays are not authorised during term time unless in exceptional circumstances. If you do choose to take your child out of school, you must complete a leave of absence  form as soon as possible and at least four weeks in advance of the planned absence. If the school does not consider the circumstances to be exceptional, we will refer the case to the local authority to issue a penalty notice. Leave of absence forms are available from the school office or by clicking here.

If you are at all worried about your child’s attendance, please contact the school office to make an appointment with a member of our attendance team. We are here to help!
