Adverse Weather

WINTER PREPARATIONS

In extreme weather conditions, the school will adopt the following procedures to inform parents of closures.

In the event of a full closure:

  • We will send a text message to parents between 7.00 and 7.15 a.m.
  • Please check Trax FM on 107.9, Hallam FM on 103.4, BBC broadcasts, the school website, school Facebook page and Twitter @RedlandsWorksop for updates.

In the event of an early closure during the school day

  • We will inform parents by text message.  Children should be collected as soon as possible, however, staff will remain until all pupils have been safely delivered to parents.

Please ensure that we have all current mobile and landline telephone numbers and that your phone is switched on.

We will NOT send a text message if the school is going to be open.  However, if school

IS OPEN and the weather conditions are poor, playgrounds may remain closed.  On these occasions, pupils should access the school through the table tennis centre entrance where they will be met and supervised by staff.  Please send children in appropriate clothing and footwear.

We ask that you closely supervise your children during poor weather conditions to avoid slips and trips.  During a school closure period due to adverse weather conditions, we welcome parents who are available, fit and healthy to assist in the clearing of walkways.  Please contact the Head Teacher.
