Sep 2009 -
Redlands
School Awarded the Prestigious Full International School Award!
After many months of hard work, led by
Mr. Alexander, Miss Briscoe and Miss Saunderson, a portfolio of evidence
was prepared to show how Redlands has made links with schools in Namibia,
Romania, Mexico and Spain and was then submitted to the British Council.
In recognition of the school's enormous commitment to internationalism and
the global dimension across every area in the curriculum, the school has
been awarded the prestigious international School Award!
On the 16th October, Mr. Alexander will travel to London to accept the
trophy, at a special ceremony, on behalf of the school. Our children enjoy
communicating with their pen-friends and we would like to say a big thank
you to parents, for encouraging their children to write such wonderful
letters. We could not have achieved this award without your support!

Nov 2008- Redlands School's 'Twinning Project' with Rosa Luxemburgo,
Madrid...
The staff have returned from Madrid after a very successful visit to
our 'twin school.' Whilst there, Mr. Alexander, Miss Briscoe, Mrs.
White, Miss. Killeen, Miss White and Mrs. Tuke worked with teachers and
their classes of children, between the ages of 3-12 years. They taught the
children in Madrid about Bonfire Night, baking traditional foods such as
gingerbread men, chocolate apples and flapjack with them, telling the
story of Guy Fawkes and they even performed a play for the whole school!
They took work from some of the classes at Redlands and also brought work
back to establish pen-friends. Redlands' staff were able to improve their Spanish
speaking skills and are keen to pass this on in the classrooms.
Please click on the link below to the school in Madrid, and also see just
a few of the many photographs that were taken by the staff whilst there.
