Safeguarding

At Redlands the safeguarding of our children is of the upmost importance.

Safeguarding means that we will promote the welfare of our children and ensure we protect them from harm.

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing the impairment of their health and development
  • ensuring safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable children to have the best outcomes

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility at Redlands.

The school operates within the Government legislation documents of;

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023

Recent legislation within these documents highlights current significant national issues, including preventing radicalisation in line with the Prevent Strategy. This is part of the Government's counter terrorism strategy to stop people becoming radicalised into terrorism. There is also an increased awareness of issues such as Grooming, Peer on Peer Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation and Child Sexual Exploitation.

We also work alongside external agencies to ensure all of our children are kept safe and protected from harm.

These could include;

  • Social Care, Health, Police, Local Children's Centre and the Local Education Welfare Service.

If you have concerns about a child at the school please contact Mrs Hollinger or Mrs Willford (Lead Designated Safeguarding Officers/Head Teachers) on 01909 473655.
